Our girls U18 Volleyball team started its official season this past Saturday January 9th
2012. As expected the level was strong and our opponents did not allow us to win a game. “It is the first tournament, girls have to get used to the competition. We just finished our pre-season
and we may have played the best teams during the first round. We can only improve and we will have to stay focus on our objectives starting next week end” said Coach Fabien Lacroix. Lila girls
U15 will also enter the competition next Sunday with the Southern California Volleyball Association. Coach Caroline Baccou would like to win at least one game during this first round, to do as
well as last year. “Girls have more January 9th experience and reach the age limit (U15). We should be able to have a good start and the
first tournament is always exiting”. Our basketball elementary team will
start to practice on Monday 2012 (4 pm) with Coach Marilyn Dubon. Fifteen players were selected to represent Lila during the Hazard Recreation competition. They will practice at school on Mondays
and Fridays (4-5pm). Two teams (Los Feliz) and Pasadena will play official games, starting late January2012. Boy’s high school will end up their pre season and should start the HOLA recreational
league this coming Friday January 13th 2012. They will play around 14 matches in order to qualify for the play off. Coach Marilyn is confident as the group seems more compact than last
year. Lila soccer U16 will now practice on Mondays and Wednesdays (4-5 pm). They will play friendlies against club teams and other schools. The cross
country practices will soon starts on Tuesdays afternoon with Coach Caroline for both groups U12 and U15 years old. Students will improve their endurance capacity to prepare the cross country
competition held in May 2012 (Balboa Park).

Lila Lions played their last game at YMCA Reseda last week-end. After a competitive season, they were
eliminated during the first playoff round. It was a close game and they lost by 6 points. Even if the opponents were strong teams and we lost games
this season, our students improved and had a taste of competition. We work for the future and they never stopped practicing and trying their best. We were not focus on their performance but on
the progress they have been making for better seasons to come. Congratulations to the whole group and coach Fabien. Go Lions!

Our Girls basketball team will keep on practicing after having played the exposition
center season. They will participate to the Hazard recreation center season, and will play about ten games after January 2012
. Most of our girls will also participate to the SCVA Volleyball season played on Saturdays. They
will have their first official game right after the vacation. “We will have to be ready, and already improved our fitness and our touch. The games conditions will be different and the girsl will
have to deal with the pressure and a special environment.” Said coach Fabien. We are confident we will play at our top level. That is the minimum we can do. Our
opponents are strong squads there, sometimes top clubs in California, and it will be no given victories.

For the last match of the season, our two Boys U11 teams met each other this past Saturday. Players were
exited and wanted to finish the season with a winning touch. We realized our players improved compared to the very first game they met each other. Fans had to wait about 7 minutes before Thibeaux
offering the first goal for his side. Paul delivered a perfect ball that Thibeaux controled with calm. He did not leave any chance to the goalkeeper. Both teams were fighting hard and tried to
play their best level. Arthur and Diego had a clear opportunity to tie, but missed the 1-1. Liam, the best scorer for our side, took the ball and
went by himself to the goal. After dribbling three defenders he scored twice, and give his team a 3-0 advantage. The Lions did not stop playing and Diego after a beautiful play could score the
first goal for Adrien’s team: 3-1.
“It is clear that both sides have improved. Even if it was a hard season, I think our teams had fun,
never gave up and enjoyed coming on Saturdays” said coach Simon. “We could have exactly the same squad next year, players being younger than the age
limit. Practice will pay off.” Mentioned coach Adrien.
