Our Volleyball teams will start their official seasons with the SCVA in January 2012. Coach Fabien
and Caroline worked on the Girls fitness during the pre-season. “Girls need it so that we are ready to play several games a day during the tournament” said Coach Caroline. “We still do a
technical practice for the girls, once a week inside a gymnasium. They can learn how to dive and experiment the same game conditions as SCVA. We have 2 weeks left before the vacation, and the
competition will start quickly said coach Fabien Lacroix. The group is exited, and hopes to have better results than last year. Girls improved and have more experience. Some of them have been
playing this competition for now 3 years. Work will pay off. Go Lions!

Congratulations to the whole group for their last performance last Saturday against Manchester United youth team. Our Lions remember
the first game we played against this opponent. We ended up losing 7-3 against a much better team. This second game was a good way to know about our progression during this past month. We started
the match with two forwards (Liam, Orlando) determined to score the first goal. We had satisfaction with the young Liam (again) who scored a beautiful goal after a lovely pass from his teammate
Paul on the right side. We did not suffer much from the opposition but conceded a goal in the last ten minutes. We reacted right away; fought hard and even had opportunities to take the lead with
Paul, Thibaud or Liam. “This is a good result today. We progressed compared to the first game result. I am happy with my players’ behavior and cannot wait to face Lila team 2 this coming Saturday
December 10th at 9.00 AM (Columbus middle school). All our players look forward to this game. It will be a fun moment and the last game of the season” said Coach Simon. Go
Lions!

Since September, all the volleyball teams have been practicing hard at LILA in order to meet their
goals.
First, the girls under 15, who practice alternativ
ely at LILA and Hazard Park, are getting ready for the SCVA tournament starting January 2012 . Our
two new recruits Mimi and Chloé, have been improving quickly and their skills will be vital in the competitions. Sasha has high hopes for the team and says, “We’re ready for the
competition! We’ll get even better results and we will be in the first 5 divisions this year.”
Secondly, the co-ed 5th grade team also started practice in September and are vigorously
training every Mondays at LILA. Dylan, Clara, Hera, Isabela, Zane and Samantha are intently focused on the competition that awaits them May 2012. Simon Toselli says, “The students are
promising and there might be some future great athletes on this team”.
Finally, the relief is here. Echo, Ankha, Hannah,Minty, Helena and Talia are the next volleyball generation. They are 2nd, 3rd and
4th graders, eager to learn volleyball and to be the future players on the junior high team. “One day we’ll be the big girls and we’ll win all the competitions. We’ll do better
than them.” said Ankha.
“When you see how many improvements they’ve already made, there’s no doubt they will be great players,”
says Coach Caroline, “We’ll keep a watchful eye on them for the years to come.”

Every Wednesdays and Fridays, Our U18 volleyball team follows a conditioning program to
recover their
fitness level, honing and perfecting volleyball specific functions (serving, hitting, block, jumping, squatting and moving quickly)
The
off-season gives volleyball players an opportunity to increase power and strength through strength training. This is the perfect time of year to develop powerful arms, legs, and abs. The stronger
we are during the off-season will directly correlate to our serving speed or our ability to spike harder.
“The girls
are working hard in the off-season. They know we will play against good team this season in U18. The discipline and hard work will pay off with an increased intensity in their play” said Coach
Fabien. He notices that the ambiance is really amazing in the
group. They understand that there is no substitute for hard work; there are no short cuts for success. There are no easy roads to achieve worthwhile goals.
“I think we realize the potential of this team, so we’re looking forward to every practice and pushing each other every
day in practice,”. “The chemistry and the way we connect on and off the court is really special with this team, and we’re trying to take advantage of it.”
We are looking forward to cheer them for their first game in January.
Go Lions….

Their last four games have been an inspiration to the kids in that they really focused and very
motivated during practice. “Their attitude has been positive despite the
losses. They’ve been going really hard,” said the coach.
“We were really close to win last
time. We played hard,” Thomas said. “We did a great job defending. We just couldn’t win it. We played well enough to win.” To Their coach, the promise of better days is near and better defense is
promised. All the team is looking forward to this Saturday's
game to apply what they learned.
We should support them by showing up
at the game on:
At 2PM at SUTTER middle School
7330 Winnetka Avenue, Canoga Park, CA
