Lila Boys and Girls High school basketball teams started practicing 3 weeks ago
with Coach Marilyn Dubon. We are still building the groups and will participate in a spring official season (about 10 games). Our two teams will play their first friendly game against Belmont
High School. This will be a strong opponent and a good experience for our athletes. They will have the chance to measure their skills against another school.
-Wednesday, October 12th 2011: Boys High School will play at 4.30 PM and 5.30 PM. They will
play against the High School Junior Varsity and the Varsity teams.
-Thursday October 13th 2011: Girls High School will play at 4.30 PM against the Junior
Varsity team.
Lila still has not played together, it will be the first game situation. Coach Marilyn expect her group to enjoy and not to play under
pressure as the result will not matter. Go Lions!

Lila Lions lost their 2 past soccer games. Coach Adrian’s team lost by a two goals difference. It seems we could have done way
better. The game was pretty competitive and we had clear chances to score during the first half. Two mistakes from our defense allowed the opponent to be up by two goals at half time. "It
is a bit frustrating because
I clearly feel we had
a chance to at least tie the game" said goalkeeper David.
Our second game was harder against a talented opponent. Both teams scored a lot of goals, and Lions ended up losing seven to
three. Our performance was pretty good. We still need some time to really get into the game. We should have played the game as we finished the second half. We still need consistence. We will take
advantage of the break to practice even more and be ready for our next game on October 15th at Colombus Middle School. Go Lions!

Lila Lions Basketball team (11-12) started practicing two
weeks ago with Coach Fabien. The group is composed of 13 players (boys and girls) that will participate to the YMCA West Valley basketball program. The team practice twice a week at school and
will play official games on Saturdays, starting late Octobe
r. The
competition is pretty intense and we lost most of our games last year. Coach Fabien Lacroix is confident “our team is pretty young but is hard working. Every player wants to do well and is
motivated. We already know the season will be hard. We will need everybody that is why I decided to select 13 players. Students will play in great facilities (High school gymnasiums) and
they will have a good first taste of competition. We are all exited to start the season. Go Lions!

Our two soccer teams played this past Saturday at Columbus Middle school and lost
their game by a 5 goals difference. This is the start of the season (3rd game) and we could not manage to score a goal on the opponent. The young Liam had a
good opportunity after going through three defenders by himself, but his shot was blogged by the goalkeeper. “Our players have to remember
they are a very young squad. We will probably have the same team in two years and we work for the future. “I saw good things today. We would have deserved to score at least 2 goals with Diego
playing as a forward” said coach Adrien. "Even if the group does not have much
experience, I am pleased the boys do not give up and try to play their football. I was particularly happy with Thibeaux and Paul’s performance today. The Boys have improved and show a good
example for their teammates. They do not give up on any ball” concluded Coach Simon. We will play our next game at Columbus Middle school this
Saturday October 1st at 1.00 pm and 3.00p pm. Lions will be practicing hard this week and will try to have a better result. Come and show your support! Go Lions!
